2009 annual report from the Formula Experience Class to the ISAF Windsurfing Committee

In 2006 the Formula Experience and Formula Windsurfing classes adopted a common policy for the future development of formula racing.  This included combining world and continental championships under the "Formula Festival" umbrella with Junior, Youth and Masters world titles.

The 2009 World Championship was held in Cadiz, Spain, from 4th to 11th July.

The 2009 World Champion is Ricardo Aguirre (PER)

A South American Championship will take place in Maragogi, Brazil, from 30th October to 2nd November.

The class has increased its membership during 2009, with fleets growing in some countries, particularly South America (Brazil, Peru, Chile) and Mexico.  Current membership includes 13 countries from 3 continents.

The 2009 AGM was held during the World Championships in Spain. The most significant decision was to move the ISAF world title from junior to senior age group from 2010.  In many countries FE is seen as a viable alternative to formula with less emphasis on the equipment.

The 2010 World Championships will take place in Brazil, with continental championships lined up for North America (USA), South America (Peru) and Europe (ITA).
