2008 Formula Experience European Championship France, Bandol, 26th - 31st August 2008 The 2008 European Formula Windsurfing Festival includes European Championships for Formula Windsurfing Youth & Masters; and Formula Experience.

Just one race! The prize giving went ahead but no European titles were awarded this year. The organisers did everything expected of them but unfortunately this championship will be remembered for lack of wind!

THE NEWS . . .   2008 Formula Experience European Championship - Final Posted On:  01/09/2008 10:31:46 AM The prize giving went ahead but no European titles were awarded this year. The organisers did everything expected of them but unfortunately this championship will be remembered for lack of wind!  The Race Committee sat out on the water all day hoping to be able to set a course.  During the morning the light breeze changed direction. The wind increased a little by late afternoon and there were hopes for racing at the last moment but it wasn't to be.

2008 Formula Experience European Championship - Day Three Posted On:  29/08/2008 8:30:52 PM The SI's have been changed to allow racing to continue later into the evening and just before 18.00 the mark boats were going out for the first time as the wind increased slowly.   But No luck today - AP over A!  Skippers meeting at 10.00 tomorrow, first possible start at 11.00. Tonight sailors are invited to a BBQ at the club and hopefully will remain focused on the last 2 days.

2008 Formula Experience European Championship - Day Two Posted On:  29/08/2008 8:16:02 PM Just one race!  16 year old Jocelyn de Souza is ahead of 15 year old Morane Demont and Romain Dupin (16) is third.

2008 Formula Experience European Championship - Day One Posted On:  29/08/2008 7:54:14 PM Welcome to very sunny, very hot, but not very windy, Bandol!  70 competitors from 12 countries have signed on for the Formula Windsurfing Youth & Masters and Formula Experience European Championships. In the FE fleet, French sailors are joined by competitors from Spain and Peru. It seems likely that that light winds will dominate the week, with the possibility of Mistral on Sunday. However the wind has shown a tendency to increase above forecast later in the day - so we remain hopeful. The Race Committee, under the direction of Serge Rouanne (IRO from France) is well prepared and ready to take every opportunity to deliver a good championship. The club hosted an opening ceremony and cocktail party with visiting dignatories, including the mayor of Bandol, attending.

2008 Formula Experience European Championship - 26-31 August Posted On:  21/08/2008 9:45:34 PM With less than one week before the start of the FW Youth and Masters and FE European Championships host club SN Bandol  is preparing to welcome over 70 competitors from 20 countries to the Cote D'Azur. European competitors will be joined by windsurfers from South America - Peru and Brazil - for these European Championships, the first since the Formula and Formula Experience classes joined forces to promote junior, youth and masters racing. Idyllically situated on France's Mediterranean coast the Bay Of Bandol offers a superb arena for racing, and enjoys a reputation for hosting memorable windsurfing events. Bandol Beach The beautiful Bay of Bandol is located on the Cote D'Azur in southern FRANCE, and is an established sailing and windsurfing area.  Hosts of the Raceboard European Championships in April 2007, the Societe Nautique de Bandol are sure to provide a warm welcome and excellent facilities for the 2008 Formula Windsurfing European Festival.
