Day 1 at South Americans
Posted On:  28/08/2010 12:21:32
Today, Friday August 27th, started the FE South American Championship in Paracas, Peru.

The day began with very light winds, but all competitors, coming from Chile, Brasil, Venezuela, Mexico and Peru, were all really happy preparing their boards and sails while waiting for suitable conditions for racing.

Finally, sun came out and wind started picking up slowly and at 4.45pm the race committee began the start procedure for racing, with winds around 8-12 knots.

In Race 1 Peruvian Nicolas Schreier Loret de Mola, expert sailor at this spot, finished first place followed by Peruvian Sebastian Aguirre (just 15 years old). The third place in Open division was taken by Brazilian Rafael Cunha.

Leading sailors in the other divisions included: Junior-Leonardo Venturi (Brasil); Youth-Sebastian Aguirre (Peru); and Girls-Antonia Undurraga (Chile).

For tomorrow there are good winds expected, with possible gusts over 25 knots, so all competitors must be ready for a first possible start at 11am.
